Ben Stiller tries to help raise his orphaned nephew in 'Nutcracker' trailer
A1 Digital India News: David Gordon Green directs the holiday flick, which premieres on Hulu later this month after a TIFF premiere. Ben Stiller plays a man who takes care of his recently orphaned nephews when the trailer for Hulu's Nutcracker Villagers holiday movie goes over his head and into town.
Director David Gordon Green's feature film will debut on the streaming platform on November 29 after premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival. Linda Cardellini, Edi Patterson, Tim Heidecker and Toby Huss are among the cast, as well as child actors and real-life brothers Homer, Ulysses, Atlas and Arlo Jensen.
The Nutcracker centers on career-obsessed Mike (Stiller), who arrives three weeks before Christmas to serve as a temporary caregiver for his four unruly nephews until they can be placed in a foster home.
Stiller explains to the boys in the footage, “I’m here to take care of you now, to connect you with a family.” Later, a troubled Stiller urges the rambunctious youngsters: “Behave like normal kids, OK? “I’m trying to find you a good home.” Green directed the film from a screenplay by Leland Douglas.
Nate Meyer, Rob Paris and Mike Wetherill are the producers. Stiller is the director and executive producer of the acclaimed Apple TV+ series Severance, which returns for a second season on January 17, 2025. Green’s previous credits include The Exorcist: Believer, the recent Halloween reboot trilogy and Pineapple Express.
Looking at The Hollywood Reporter, chief film critic David Rooney wrote: “The Nutcracker isn’t exactly a strong family comedy, but for viewers willing to keep up with Green’s free-flowing pace, the emotional payoff will be impressive. One of those”. THR Newsletter
