BTS star RM reaches top five on Billboard charts for the first time
A1 Digital India News: BTS singer RM is in the midst of a big week on the Billboard charts. The superstar collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion on the recently released single "Neva Play," which shot to number one in the US as soon as it arrived. It became a major win in many ways.
"Neva Play" marked his first appearance on the chart this week for 11 years. About halfway through, RM scored his first win as a solo artist, as his new collaboration proved to be an instant winner in genres he's not usually known to work with.
RM managed to reach a few of Billboard's "hot" charts with the new duo. The rankings follow a consumption pattern, reflecting what Americans listen to in one gender or the other. These lists are compiled using sales, streaming, and airplay information.
"Neva Play" peaked between the two charts on the Hot Rap Songs chart, where it peaked at No. 5. On the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, it only fell one spot.
The cut is also a big win for streaming in its own right. “Neva Play” peaked at No. 5 on the Rap Streaming Songs chart and No. 6 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs tally.
“Neva Play” performed well in its first seven days, also giving RM his first hit with a non-genre-specific tally. The single opened at No. 42 on the all-genre Streaming Songs chart.
Since bringing RM into all of those respects for the first time, “Neva Play” has also helped bring BTS’ talent back to a half-dozen others. They are part of the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Exclusives in the US. The cut earned the duo their fifth solo win on the Hot 100, where the tune fell just below the top 10. It had also peaked at No. 36 on the Hot 100 at the time.
"Neva Play" marked RM's third and second No. 1 on the chart. The win instantly put him atop the Digital Song Sales, R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, and Rap Digital Song Sales charts in the US, as anything involving the South Korean superstar is sure to sell well once it becomes available.
