Carmen Electra: I was homeless in Los Angeles
A1 Digital India News: Los Angeles, Sep 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) 'Baywatch' star Carmen Electra says before she found fame, she was homeless in Los Angeles and would drag herself to auditions filled with self-doubt.
The 52-year-old actress landed her first film role when she starred as Lainey McKenzie in the hit action series 'Baywatch' in the late 1990s, but she recalls her quest for stardom was a struggle.
"So many fads, and I didn't really know what I was going to do. But I just started trying things and really came out of my shell. So that was the beginning. I didn't want to go to auditions, I'd come out there and say everybody here is so great, I can't do that, I don't remember anything.
Speaking as part of a panel at 90s Con in Daytona Beach, Florida, Electra said, "I was homeless in L.A., not from a rich family or anything like that. I knew where to live in N.Y. or L.A.?"
But as FemaleFirst.co reports, the actress, whose birth name was Tara Leigh Patrick, changed her fortunes when she met the late pop icon Prince and he suggested she change her name and produce her first studio album in 1993.
The actress shared that when she was in the cast of "Baywatch", she was often asked to check her weight while filming in her famous red bikini on the set of the show.
She added, "I felt I should try some things and I met good people along the way that helped me. Prince pushed me and he was very supportive. With his help I became a little more confident and I tried things." And... tried to get over it." Taking into account all of my insecurities that I still have."
