'Conclave' leads with 6 nominations
A1 Digital India News: Edward Berger's Conclave, which introduced audiences to the drama behind the selection of a new pope, topped the nominees for this year's Movie Awards for Grownups with six nominations, including the top prize for Best Picture.
James Mangold's Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, starring the legendary musician Timothée Chalamet, received five nominations, followed by four-time nominees Gladiator II and September 5 and triple nominees Sing Sing, Emilia Perez and The Brutalist. Conclave is joined in the Best Picture category by A Complete Unknown, Emilia Perez, Gladiator II and September 5.
In addition to Best Picture, Conclave also featured in the categories for Best Actor (Ralph Fiennes), Best Supporting Actor (Stanley Tucci), Best Supporting Actress (Isabella Rossellini), Best Director (Berger) and Best Screenwriter (Peter Straughan).
A Complete Unknown is up for Best Picture, Director (Mangold), Screenwriters (Mangold and Jay Cocks), Crew and Best Time Capsule. Gladiator II, along with Best Picture, is up for Best Supporting Actress (Connie Nielsen), Best Supporting Actor (Denzel Washington) and Best Director (Ridley Scott).
The July 5 premiere will be nominated for Best Picture, Supporting Actor (Peter Sarsgaard), Best Cast Troupe and Best Time Capsule.
Movies for Grownups has also announced nominations in the TV categories, with The Crown, Hacks, Palm Springs, Shogun and Slow Horses leading the way for nominations in the Best TV Series or Limited Series category.
The AARP Movies for Grownups Awards will be hosted by Alan Cumming at the Beverly Wilshire on January 11, 2025. The ceremony will air on PBS on Great Performances Sunday, February 23.
