Kyle Chandler's Green Lantern contract reportedly doesn't include any DC Universe movies
A1 Digital India News: Is Hal Jordan in trouble in DC Universe? An update indicates that if Kyle Chandler is cast as Green Lantern, he has been handed a short contract. The talk in town today is that Kyle Chandler is the frontrunner to play Hal Jordan in the upcoming Lantern series. This comes after speculations that James Gunn and Peter Safran are looking for big names to play the iconic Green Lantern, with previous offers being Josh Brolin and Matthew McConaughey and Ewan McGregor, it is rumoured that these names are on the list to fill out the rest of the shortlist.
However, perhaps this list isn't the only short thing for Hal Jordan. A recent Twitter post made by Boris Kit to The Hollywood Reporter provided new information about the contract that was handed to Kyle Chandler to join the DC Universe. While Chandler signed on for the lead role in Lantern, the contract did not include any provision pertaining to the Green Lantern's contractual obligations to appear in the films.
The main theory circulating online is that this means Hal Jordan will be killed off in the first season of Lanterns. However, it should be noted that the report never mentioned that Kyle Chandler was only offered the role of Green Lantern for one season. The only thing mentioned is that his contract only mentions television and streaming obligations, with the current project having no film component.
Another possible explanation could be that the DC Universe does not give actors extensive contracts like the MCU. If true, it would make sense that Kyle Chandler's contract for Hal Jordan only pertains to television, as it is only for the production of Lanterns.
However, this theory does not invalidate the idea that Green Lantern could be set to die out in the series, either in the first season or any subsequent seasons. The Green Lantern series Lanterns received an order for an HBO series. Stay tuned for the latest news on the future of the DC Universe and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
