Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi to Star in Director Emerald Fennell's 'Wuthering Heights'.
A1 Digital India News: Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are set to star in Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights feature film adaptation, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. MRC chose LuckyChap Entertainment to produce the film, which is based on author Emily Brontë's classic novel of the same name.
Fennell wrote, directed and produced the project, which is currently in pre-production and produced in the U.K. Getting ready to shoot... later this year. Robbie is set to play Catherine Earnshaw, and Elordi will play Heathcliff.
First published in 1847, the book focuses on the stormy relationship between Catherine and Heathcliff, which involves passion and revenge after they meet while staying at the residence of the same name. THR reported in July that Fennell is set to direct an adaptation of Wuthering Heights as her next feature film.
Wuthering Heights is Fennell's third feature with LuckyChap, with Robbie directing alongside Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara. LuckyChap also produced Fennell's previous films Promising Young Woman (2020) and Saltburn (2023).
Young Promise is nominated for five Oscars, including a win for Fennell's screenplay. Following her blockbuster hit Barbie last year, Robbie can next be seen opposite Colin Farrell in director Kogonada's A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which Sony Pictures is set to release in spring 2025.
Elordi, who is known for projects including Saltburn and Euphoria, stars in Prime Video's upcoming series The Narrow Road to the Deep North and Guillermo del Toro's Netflix film Frankenstein.
There have been several screen adaptations of Wuthering Heights, including director William Wyler's 1939 version that starred Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon and was nominated for best picture.
Recent versions include a 2009 miniseries for ITV starring Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley and a 2011 miniseries starring Kaya Scodelario and James Howson.
