Pepe Aguilar dedicates 'Cuidámela Bien' to his son-in-law Christian Nodal: see the lyrics translated into English
A1 Digital India News: Pepe Aguilar never stops speaking his mind. And his latest song, titled "Cuidámela bien" — which translates to "Take good care of her" — is no exception. Singing directly to Christian Nodal, who married his daughter Angela Aguilar in July, the Mexican star makes his demands clear.
"Well, you're not a fool, you took the best woman from the old man," he sings over trumpets and sad guitar notes. "Love her, cabrón. Show the world that you're on the right path, and that you have a heart. Make her happy like I always wanted in life."
Aguilar's song is a play on words that's more meaningful in Spanish. In one verse, he sings, "Y no da la cara el bandido," or, "And that bandit doesn't show his face" — which could also be a reference to Nodal's face tattoos. In the second half of the song, she uses song titles to express her feelings, including Angela's "Ahí Donde Me Ven" and Nodal's "Bottle by Bottle."
At the end of the song, in a completely emotionally vulnerable state, Aguilar confirmed that he gave the couple his blessing, something he announced publicly for the first time just one day after the wedding ceremony, just weeks after the couple confirmed their union.
"In any lasting relationship, love is essential and respect and responsibility are totally indispensable," he wrote then. "With love, face the most complex challenges inside and outside your environment... I have also been in your place and after spending 27 years with my wife I tell you: there are no simple principles." Below, Pepe Aguilar's "Cuidámela bien" translated words to English:
It's not news that she's with you
Well the world knows and everyone is witness to it
Time went by too fast and someone else took my angel
And the thief won't show his face
I'll be very clear, I'm doing things the right way
'Cause this is no place for a bandit, mizo (son),
And I know it's easy to be a cabrón
I've been in that situation myself
The one who stays is more virile
And I'm sorry if I'm a little rude
It's just that I fell in love with a lucky chamaco (boy).
Take good care of him
You've made him fall in love
You've pushed him too far
What am I going to do?
He was never mine
And I know this
That I will lose him
And all the best to you
Now he is with you
All the best to you from me
Take good care of it
He may not be perfect
But I assure you
He knows how to love
The roses were enough for you
So my proud daughter
Fall at your feet
Not the opposite
Let me give you some advice
If you love him well
Don't change it because you are so good at it
When you brought him the roses, I played strong
And in the serenade we couldn't make it out
The eagle has flown away
And the one who no longer shows his face shows
I admit that loving you is easy
And I'm sorry if I'm a little rude
It's just that I fell in love with a lucky chamaco (boy).
Take good care of it
"Ahí donde me ven" (There you can see me)
"Bottle after bottle".
"My 100th no good" (I'm not feeling good).
Well you're not stupid
You take it from the old man
The most beautiful woman
And all the best to you
Now she's with you
All the best to you from me
Love her, Cabron
Show the world
That you're on the right path
And you have a heart
Make her happy as I always wanted in life
And in the eye of the cyclone
For my part I give you my blessings
And I wish you good company always
