Pulp plays its final show at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in 2024; Jarvis Cocker says "this is only the beginning" (Video, Setlist)
A1 Digital India News: Pulp wrapped up their 2024 tour at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles on Saturday night. In an Instagram note after the show, Jarvis said Saturday's show was "like Apocalypse Now: The Musical." Perhaps he meant that in a good way. "Let's do it another time."
The brief two-week U.S. tour featured the UK band, which hasn't released a new record since 2001, with sets of classics like "Common People," "This Is Hardcore," "Babies," "Disco 2000" and others. Previous dates on the tour had only played one new song a night, but on Saturday they played two: "Spike Island" and the sweet, romantic "Farmers Market," which they unveiled on Wednesday at the first of three shows in L.A. They did, and it was their last song of the night.
Jarvis asked if they could play more songs (presumably "Days of Glory" which comes at the end of every set this year) but they were on curfew. There was a wave of disappointment in the crowd but Jarvis said, "By 10pm all the bodies will be out of the grave and if anyone dies I will take responsibility."
With all the new songs, it certainly seems like we might get a new Pulp album, which Jarvis also hinted at on his post-show Instagram. "It will be 2024 in the US. But please, trust us: this is just the beginning."
Jarvis said goodnight to the crowd, saying, "We hope to see you again in the near future."
