Ewan McGregor says having his Hollywood Walk of Fame star next to Carrie Fisher 'means the world
Times of discover News: The 53-year-old Scottish actor got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6840 Hollywood Boulevard on Thursday, September 12 — and he's just a few feet away from fellow Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher's own star.
"It means a lot to me. I'm so lucky to have met Carrie," McGregor told PEOPLE about the star's placement after the ceremony. The Moulin Rouge actor recalled meeting Fisher, who died in 2016 at age 60, at a party in Malibu, California, when he revealed that he "so loved seeing his boys in the space opera series."
"I sat with her on this beach and I felt like we connected and she made me laugh, she made me laugh a lot and then we did some things here in Hollywood," he recalls. "We co-hosted some fundraisers at her house... Anyway, we were co-hosting and she made me laugh out loud and she was incredibly funny. I missed her so much, I always forgot to know that she wasn't there." We have".
Fisher had her star added to the Walk of Fame posthumously in a ceremony on May 4, 2023. Stars of other Star Wars actors such as Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill are also in the 6800 block of Hollywood Boulevard. At the time, Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd accepted the honor on her behalf.
"I don't really know how it will feel or what it will mean, but it means a lot and it feels great and I'm very moved by the whole thing," McGregor said during his speech in the star-studded audience for the ceremony. "I'm very emotional to be on the sidewalk next to my old friend Carrie Fisher, it means a lot to me too."
Winstead, 39, has a 3-year-old son Laurie with McGregor, and he also has 28-year-old Clara, 22-year-old Esther, 22-year-old Jamyan and 13-year-old Anouk with ex-wife Eve Mavrakis.
Before McGregor took the stage, another Star Wars alumnus, a former Star Wars alumnus, was seen in the audience. Co-star Christensen, 43, has spoken about his attraction to McGregor when they first met. He recalls McGregor giving him a "very warm hug" when they were first introduced to him.
"He told me how much he enjoyed working together and how excited we would be to have lightsaber training, and he was very kind to me," Christensen said. "And it immediately made me realize that I was meeting someone special, and not just as an actor, but as a person, and I was meeting a friend. A friend who later became mine, he would cut off both legs and let me do this. I would die near a volcano, but I think this is what I should do."
